If you’re an early riser and love Blue Bottle Coffee, you’ve probably seen Bob. He’s almost always the first person in line at 7am.

For Bob, it’s all about the rituals. He always orders an “extra-chocolate, extra-hot, hot-chocolate”. He sits in the front left seat at the picture window. He hangs his white Panama hat on a portable-peg that he brings with him. He always has a book, headphones, and a collection of highlighters. He sits quietly in that corner for two hours a day – going through two chapters and two drinks. He never has to explain his order – everyone knows.

Seeing Bob is important. His routines are like a calming metronome in an otherwise chaotic city.
